Supporter Club
Getting started

The welcome journey and branding your organisation

The first-sign-in welcome journey, reading your website for branding, and finalising your logo, colours, theme and mission.

The first time you sign in, Supporter Club asks you to brand your organisation before anything else. Your club pages and emails are built from this branding. The welcome journey takes you through it in three steps: Welcome, Read your website and Finalise your branding.

Why every admin page sends you here

Until your organisation's branding is complete, every admin page sends you to the page headed "Welcome to Supporter Club". This page has no sidebar. Its only other control is Sign out at the top.

Your organisation's branding is complete when both of these are true:

  • your organisation has a logo, and
  • its theme or one of its theme colours has been changed since Supporter Club set your organisation up. Pressing Finish on the last step counts as accepting the theme, so you don't have to change anything.

Once your organisation's branding is complete, the admin area unlocks for every administrator of your organisation, and the welcome journey is not shown again.

Step 1: Welcome

The first step explains that Supporter Club will read your website for your logo, colours and a description of what you do, and that you then check and finish them.

Press Get started to move to Read your website.

Steps you have already passed stay on the page. Select a step's heading to go back to it.

Step 2: Read your website

This step reads your organisation's website and suggests a logo, brand colours, fonts and a mission for you to review. Apart from a website address you enter (see below), nothing is changed until you press Apply.

Start reading

If Supporter Club already has your website address, the step says "We'll read" followed by that address.

  • Press Pull from my website to read that address.
  • Or press Use a different address, enter it under Website address (for example, https://your-organisation.org) and press Read my website.

The address you enter under Website address is saved as your organisation's website address. It replaces the one Supporter Club had.

If Supporter Club has no website address for you, the step shows the Website address field straight away.

While it reads

A line on the page shows what Supporter Club is doing. It changes as the reading moves on, without you reloading the page:

  • "Taking a picture of your website…"
  • "Reading your website…"
  • "Picking out your colours…"
  • "Matching your colours to your theme…"
  • "Finding your logo…"
  • "Choosing your fonts…"
  • "Summarising what you do…"

If you start reading again, the new reading replaces any result you have not yet applied or discarded.

Review what was found

When the reading finishes, the step says "Here's the branding we found on your website. Apply it to your organisation, or discard it." It shows only the parts it found:

  • Logo: the logo it chose. If it found other logos, they appear under "Other logos we found". Press Use this logo beside one to use it instead. If that logo can't be used, you see "We couldn't use that logo. We've kept the one shown above." A logo that couldn't be downloaded shows "This logo couldn't be loaded, so it can't be shown."
  • Colours: each colour, with the theme role it would fill, for example Primary, Secondary, Surface or General.
  • Fonts: the Body font and Heading font.
  • Mission: a short description of what your organisation does.

Then choose one:

  • Apply saves what was found to your organisation.
  • Discard throws the result away and changes nothing.
  • Add branding manually takes you to Finalise your branding without using the result.

What Apply changes

Apply changes only the parts that were found:

  • Logo: the found logo replaces your organisation's main logo.
  • Colours: the found colours are added to your theme's colours. Colours already in your theme are kept. Each theme role the reading matched to a colour (Primary, Secondary, Surface or General) is set to that colour. Other roles are left as they were.
  • Fonts: the body font and heading font that were found replace your theme's fonts.
  • Mission: the found mission replaces your organisation's mission. If no mission was found, your existing mission is kept.

After Apply, you see "Your branding has been applied." followed by a list of what was saved. Press Continue to go to Finalise your branding.

If your website can't be read

If the reading fails, you see "We couldn't read your website. Try a different address, or add your branding manually."

  • Press Try a different address to enter another address, for example your main website rather than a social media page.
  • Or press Add branding manually to go to Finalise your branding and add your logo yourself.

You can finish the welcome journey without reading your website.

If website reading isn't available in Supporter Club, this step shows only an Add branding button. It takes you to Finalise your branding.

Step 3: Finalise your branding

This step asks you to check your logo, colours and theme, change anything that isn't right, and describe what your organisation does.

  1. In the Logo panel, check your main logo. If there is none, the panel shows "Please add your organisation's logo". Press Edit, choose an image and press Save changes.
  2. In the Colors panel, check your theme's colours.
  3. In the Theme panel, check which colours and fonts your theme uses.
  4. In the Mission panel, write or check your mission. Supporter Club uses it to write the pages of a new club.
  5. Press Finish.

For how to change colours and the theme, see Themes, colours and logos.

When you press Finish, Supporter Club saves your mission and accepts your theme as it is. You then go to the admin home page.

If Finish is refused

  • "Please add your organisation's logo before you finish": your organisation has no logo. Add one in the Logo panel, then press Finish again.
  • "Your organisation has no theme yet, so its branding can't be finished": your organisation has no theme. Contact Supporter Club through the person or email address you dealt with when your organisation's account was set up. There is no support form in the admin.

After the welcome journey

You can change your logo, colours and theme later in Settings > Branding, and your mission in Settings > Account. See Organisation settings.

Next, work through your organisation's set-up steps. See The organisation task list.
