Goals and matched donations

Set a club's amount-raised and supporter-count goals, switch on matched donations, and see exactly which donations count as matched.

Goals break a club's fundraising into smaller targets: an amount to raise, or a number of supporters to reach, optionally by a date. Matched donations let you show the effect of a match funder, such as a sponsor who doubles every donation for a month.

Both are in the club's Goals settings. Open the club, select Settings, then select the Goals tab.

Goals

The Goals panel has two tabs: Amount Raised and Supporter Count. Each tab lists that kind of goal with its Title, Target and Date. A tab with no goals reads "No amount raised goals were found." or "No supporter count goals were found."

The goals here belong to the whole club. Goals for a single ambassador are set on their member page. See The members list.

Add a goal

  1. Select the Amount Raised or Supporter Count tab.
  2. Select Add goal. The New goal form opens.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Title: "Optional title for this goal". A goal without one shows as "(No title)".
    • For an amount-raised goal, Amount: "Target amount for this goal", in the club's currency. Required.
    • For a supporter-count goal, Supporter count: "Target supporter count for this goal". Required.
    • Date: "Optional date for this goal". A goal without one shows as "(No date)".
  4. Select Add goal.

If you leave the amount or supporter count empty, the goal is not saved and the form shows an error, for example "Amount can't be blank".

Amount-raised goals are listed from the smallest amount up.

Edit or delete a goal

  1. Hover over the goal in the list and select Edit. The Edit goal form opens.
  2. Change what you need and select Save changes, or select Cancel.

To delete the goal, select Delete on the Edit goal form. The Delete goal panel asks "Are you sure?" Select Delete goal to confirm.

Where goals show

The club's amount-raised goals feed the club's Home dashboard. Target shows the largest amount among all the club's amount-raised goals, and the latest date among them. If your goals have different dates, that date may belong to a different goal from the amount. The Raised figure shows the percentage of that largest amount reached. See The organisation and club dashboards.

Matched donations

The Matched donations panel reads "Matched donations are not enabled." until you switch matching on. When matching is on, it shows the current Factor, Limit, Starts and Ends.

Switch on matched donations

  1. On the Matched donations panel, select Edit.
  2. Choose Enable matched donations.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Factor: what each donation is multiplied by to give its matched amount. For a pound-for-pound match, enter 1. Required.
    • Limit: an amount, in the club's currency. Supporter Club shows it on this panel and you can show it in your designs with the CLUB_MATCHING_AMOUNT_LIMIT merge tag, but it does not cap matching. The merge tag's own description in the editor says matched donations are capped at this amount; they are not. Matched figures are worked out the same way whether or not you set it.
    • Starts: the date and time matching begins. Leave it empty to match from the start.
    • Ends: the date and time matching stops. Leave it empty to match with no end.
  4. Select Save changes.

If you choose Enable matched donations and leave Factor empty, the change is not saved and the panel shows "Factor can't be blank".

To switch matching off, select Edit, choose Don't enable matched donations, and select Save changes.

Which donations count as matched

While Enable matched donations is chosen, a donation to the club counts as matched when all of these are true:

  • it was successful;
  • it was recorded in Supporter Club on or after Starts, if you set a start;
  • it was recorded in Supporter Club before Ends, if you set an end. A donation recorded at exactly the Ends time does not count.

Supporter Club goes by when it created the donation's record, not by the donation's Date. For a donation you record by hand, that is when you recorded it, so a back-dated donation is judged by the day you entered it. For a donation made online, the record is created when the supporter first starts to pay, which can be before the payment goes through.

Each matched donation's matched amount is its amount, in the club's currency, multiplied by Factor.

Supporter Club works out matched donations from your current settings each time it shows them. So if you change Factor, Starts or Ends, the matched figures change for donations already made, not only new ones. If you switch matching off, no donations count as matched.

Matched figures appear on the club's Home dashboard as Matched and Impact (amount raised plus matched amount). See The organisation and club dashboards.
