Creating a club

Find your clubs in the Clubs list, start a new club, and find your way around the menu inside a club.

A club is one fundraising campaign, with a public home page and a page for each of its ambassadors. This page shows you where your clubs are listed, how to start a new one, and what the menu inside a club contains.

The Clubs list

Select Clubs in the sidebar. The list shows your organisation's clubs, sorted by name, a page at a time.

  • Search clubs searches by club name.
  • Filters opens the Filter clubs drawer, where you can narrow the list by Currency and by Published (yes or no).
  • New club starts a new club (see below).
  • More › Columns… lets you choose which columns you see. Your choice is saved for you only; other administrators keep their own.

The columns are:

ColumnWhat it showsShown by default
NameThe club's name. Select it to open the club.Yes
MembersThe club's active memberships, supporters and ambassadors together.Yes
RaisedThe total of the club's successful donations.Yes
ConversionActive supporters as a share of all the club's memberships.Yes

Active and Archived tabs

Once your organisation has archived a club, the list gains two tabs: Active and Archived. Each tab shows how many of its clubs match your current search and filters. Until then, the list shows your active clubs only, with no tabs. An empty tab reads "No active clubs." or "No archived clubs."

To archive a club, see Publishing, archiving and redirecting.

Start a new club

  1. In the Clubs list, select New club. The Start a new club screen opens.
  2. In Name, type the club's name ("Choose a name for your new Supporter Club").
  3. Select Create club.

The name must be unique within your organisation, ignoring capitals. If another club already uses it, including an archived club, the club is not created and the form shows "Name has already been taken". Choose a different name and try again.

When the club is created, Supporter Club sets it up with its pages, emails, workflows and segments, and opens the club on its Home screen. A new club also starts with:

  • your organisation's default currency;
  • a copy of your organisation's membership options;
  • one-time and monthly donations allowed, with one-time donations giving one month's membership.

You can change all of these in the club's settings. See Membership options and intervals.

A new club is not live. It shows "This club is not yet live." at the top of its screens until you publish it. To get it ready, follow the steps in Launching your first club.

Choosing how supporters join

Beta

This feature is in beta and may not be available for your account yet.

If this option is available to you, Start a new club has an extra question under Name: "How will supporters join this club?"

  • Join on a separate page (selected to start with): "Supporters click through from the ambassador's page and join on a page of its own."
  • Join on the ambassador's page: "Supporters join in a window over the ambassador's page, without ever leaving it."

You choose this once, when you create the club. No setting changes it afterwards. If you don't see the question, every club you create uses a separate join page.

For what supporters see in each case, see Referrals and how supporters join.

Finding your way around a club

When you open a club, the sidebar changes to that club's menu:

Until the club's set-up steps are all done, a Get your club set up panel sits at the foot of the sidebar, showing how many steps are done (for example, "2 of 5 steps done"). Select it to open the steps. The panel does not appear for an archived club.
