Membership options and intervals
Set the membership options supporters choose from when they join a club, and the donation intervals the club offers.
When a supporter joins a club, they choose a membership option (an amount) and how often to give. You set both in the club's Memberships settings: the Options panel holds the amounts, and the Intervals panel sets which donation frequencies are offered.
To open them, open the club, select Settings, then select the Memberships tab.
Where a new club's options come from
A new club starts with a copy of your organisation's membership options. After that, the club's options are its own: changes you make here affect only this club, and later changes to your organisation's options don't reach clubs that already exist. To change the options new clubs start with, see Organisation settings.
Membership options
The Options panel has two tabs: Options and Conversions.
The Options tab lists the club's options, lowest amount first. Each shows its image, amount, title and blurb. The default option is labelled Default. If the club has none, the tab reads "No options to show."
Add an option
- Select Add option. The New subscription option form opens.
- Fill in the fields:
- Title: "A short but captivating heading for this option". Required.
- Amount: the amount, in the club's currency. Required.
- Image: an image shown with the option.
- Blurb: "A brief but motivating description of this option". Required. A counter shows how many characters you've used against a guide of 80. It doesn't stop you typing more.
- Description: "Describe the benefits supporters can expect by choosing this option". A counter shows your length against a guide of 350.
- Campaign code: "External campaign identifier to be associated with these donations. Leave empty to use the club default, if configured." See Club settings for how campaign codes are chosen.
- Make this the default subscription option: tick this to make the option the default.
- Select Add option.
If Title, Amount or Blurb is empty, the option is not saved and the form lists what's missing, for example "Title can't be blank".
Only one option can be the default. When you save an option with Make this the default subscription option ticked, any other default option in the club stops being the default.
Edit or delete an option
- Select the option in the list. The Edit subscription option form opens, with the same fields.
- Change what you need and select Save, or select Cancel.
To delete the option, select Delete on the same form. Supporter Club asks "Are you sure you want to delete this option?" Confirm to delete it.
Conversions
If the club accepts more than one currency, supporters see each option converted into each currency. The Conversions tab shows these prices in a table: the club's own currency is marked Base, and each other accepted currency has a row of converted prices. Select Refresh to reload the table.
To choose which currencies the club accepts, see Currencies and routes.
Intervals
The Intervals panel controls how often supporters can give, and so how long their membership lasts. When a supporter makes a donation, they become an active member for a set amount of time.
The panel summarises the current setting, for example "Supporters can join by way of one-time and monthly donations." If one-time donations are allowed, it also says how long they give membership, for example "Supporters that make one-time donations will be granted membership for one month."
A new club allows one-time and monthly donations, with one-time donations giving one month's membership.
Change the intervals
- On the Intervals panel, select Edit.
- Under "Which donation intervals would you like to allow?", tick the intervals you want:
- One-time donations: "Membership will be granted for a chosen amount of time".
- Monthly donations: "Membership will renew every month with a recurring donation".
- Yearly donations: "Membership will renew every year with a recurring donation".
- If you ticked One-time donations, choose the Default membership duration: One month or One year. This is how long a one-time donation keeps a supporter's membership active.
- Select Save changes.
You must tick at least one interval. If you tick One-time donations, you must also choose a duration. Otherwise the change is not saved and the panel shows an error.
When an interval is not offered to a supporter
On the join form, Supporter Club offers a recurring interval only if the payment provider that will take the donation can collect it. PayWay can collect monthly recurring donations but not yearly ones. So if a supporter is giving in a currency your organisation routes to PayWay, Yearly donations is not offered to them, even when you've allowed it here. This applies once the club is live. Before then, every donation is simulated, so the join form offers every interval you've allowed, including Yearly donations. See How supporters pay. See Currencies and routes.
